What IS a Podcast?

Posted on March 5, 2012. Filed under: Fun Stuff, Libraries and Librarians, Web 2.0 + Web 2.1 | Tags: |

You may have heard that the library has a new podcast – but here’s some information for those who haven’t had any experience with podcasts before:

*A podcast is like a radio show, except it’s not on the radio – it’s on the internet.
*A podcast can be ‘streamed’ (played over the internet) or ‘downloaded’ (saved as an audio file to your computer, to listen to later, or to add to your Mp3 player)

When we record our library podcast, it is saved as an Mp3 file, and uploaded to our podcast host, Podbean.com. You can then stream or download the podcast episodes individually from: http://www.listenersinthemist.podbean.com

If you have iTunes at home, you can search in the iTunes store for ‘Listeners in the Mist’ to stream or download the episodes that way.
