Feedback on the New Katoomba Library

I’ve been trying to find time to do this for ages.

Katoomba Library has a book where customers have been able to make comment on their new building. Here’s what they’ve had to say . . .

Awesome and fun – Connor 🙂

Very Jacque Tati (sic) (french comedian, see film ‘Mon Oncle’), but much better than the old one, however, not very disability friendly (vision impairment disabilities).

What a brilliant environment to encourage all ages to keep their minds active in a truly positive way and in such comfort. Congratulatons – Christine

You have great books and a good view – Casper

Magnificent

It’s great but you need more/bigger/betetr signs on Katoomba Street – Chris

This place is beautiful!

Well done! About time we had a modern library  for the upper mountains community.

Brilliant – love the colour and space – and the children’s area – Margie Tull

A vision splendid-they’ve done us proud! I t really was a joy to walk into Katoomba’s newly opened Cultural Centre when it opened on Saturday. Full of light, the library is airy and spacious – a most inviting place for local people and visitors alike. The library is well designed for ease of movement around books, magazines, computers and other areas. There are various seating areas and tables for quiet reading, social gatherings and study purposes, some tucked away unobtrusively. Also, really impressed with design and use of wood and colour, in feature walls and seating. a far cry from my very first library experience in NZ when I was a child – a generous older couple persuaded the ministry of works authorities to provide a hut for a community library. The hut was about the size of a small bedroom with a kind of tiny vestibule entry. The couple ‘staffed’ the hut two or three afternoons a week and sometimes on Saturdays.  Libraries bring so much benefit to communities – Katoomba’s new library will do so over years to come. Last, not least, the Art Gallery is a delight. Bouquets and appreciation to Blue Mountains City Coucil, Vicki Edmunds and library staff.

Gorgeous, stylish, human-scale 🙂

BIG

The new library is OK

I am blown away by this! Amazing.

I love it. My new library 🙂

Ditto – Iris

An extraordinary wonderful space in our mystical mountains – Melanie Weine

I am so delighted – gorgeous design features! – As a resident I am always using our library (even when old one flooded continually) But this is a gem. Thank you – P

Lovely BUT I think the desk should be higher – librarians on stools as everyone is getting up and down from chairs – very tiring for all?

Pleased but it is too loud & echoey. And the children’s area is where people want quiet.

That’s all for now I think. HC
