The Future of the Profession

Posted on July 25, 2013. Filed under: Libraries and Librarians | Tags: |

An ALIA discussion paper “The future of the Profession: Themes and scenarios 2025” was published 1st May 2013. It is part of a discussion involving library professionals, thinkers, strategists and others. There will be workshops held between now and October and a Future of the Profession Summit in Sydney in October 2013.

You can access the paper here.

Its purpose “is to promote discussion across the sector between library leaders, information service providers, vendors, practitioners, students, commentators, colleagues in Australia and internationally – anyone and everyone with an interest in the field. The paper is intended to engage, excite, provoke. It is not our blueprint for the future.”

Further information on the discussion on the future of our profession can be found on the ALIA Futures Wiki.
